We have only just replaced the fences surrounding our garden and a few of our trees needed to be removed, so I decided to make a quilt remembering what it was like when our three boys were small. They played, with their dad and still do, all sort of sports and activities and climbing a huge blue gum was one of their favourites. I never knew whether it would be a BMX track or a football field.
I started with a natural dyed piece of silk given to me by my friend Cheryl Aitkin added a tree of painted batting, attaching the leaves as I quilted. As there has always been extra friends playing at all times of the day I have free motioned quilted a few more than three boys, and of course the dog always wanting to dig up everything newly planted. The over lay is of dyed scrim. For the boys those times were carefree and happy.
What special memories and a great way to hold on to them. I'm smiling.
