Mosaic - MaryEllen Sax - "Paisley"

I'm always drawn to paisley prints when fabric shopping so decided to do my own take on the paisley motif for this challenge.
I started the challenge with researching the history of  paisleys.  What a long and interesting history!  Every turn and color choice with such meaning.
My paisley design is very basic in comparison but I love how it turned out.  It will be a wonderful reminder to me about the rich history of this style of textile.

* Background  is an ice dyed berry colored cotton.

* I cut the tear drop shapes from solid black cotton.  The tiles are a variety of batiks.

* The batiks are fused to the black,  then the black is fused to the background.

* Black net covers the whole piece.

* Free motion quilting is done on my domestic machine.

I hope you enjoyed my piece.  Have a wonderful day!

  1. I love paisleys... ! I like the way it also gives a stained glass effect. The quilting makes the paisleys pop.

  2. Good choices in colours and great design ... your tear drops look light enough to float!
