The Abstract prompt gave the opportunity to finally do something inspired by Piet Mondriaan.
The inspiration came from Broadway Boogie Woogie and his various New York City paintings.

I copied the street map of my own neighborhood, with the streets in colored blocks running North-South and the black streets running more or less East-West. The area was a dairy farm which was developed into housing in the late 1930, early 1940s and many officers from the newly constructed Pentagon came to live here.
Love it! I was just in an art class and we studied Broadway Boogie Woogie. Good job working with your inspiration piece.

Isn't it fun that there is also a jazz piece that plays this particular boogie woogie. I think I learnt that from the MOMA site
