Song Bird - Vivian Kapusta - "Bluebirds Fly ..."

Song Bird, Vivian Kapusta, 'Bluebirds fly ... '

Judy Garland sang ...

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high
There's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why, then
Oh, why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh, why can't I?
Before I left on a trip I googled 'song, bird' and found this happy little song. When we were in Kauaii, we went to two evenings of music ... both started with this song. My husband put his music on and this was the first song on his list. By that time, if I had any doubts, they were gone! This was my song!
I painted the rainbow with dye sticks. I wasn't that impressed. Even after I wet the project, it gave dust off on fabric, my hands and machine.
The bird was sewn on my long arm on a new product ... wasn't impressed there either ... it shrank in size as I stitched. I generally use a light weight, soft canvas.

  2. You were destined to do this song! Sometimes new techniques don't work out but it is always interesting to try them. What were the dye sticks you used? They are great, bright colours, despite the dust!

  4. Great experimentation. I love the dimensionality of your bluebird.
