Bugs - Lisa Scarfe - "Bug, Bugs & More Bugs"

Better late than never. My latest quilt is called Bugs, bugs and more bugs because I simply couldn't narrow it down to just one idea. It shows many different types of bugs - insects, germs, computer bugs and things that bug me.

The fabric used - the middle fabric was chosen to represent leaf-covered ground, and the orange is the backing.
A computer bug - binary with X inserted to represent the bugs!

The influenza bug done with Permaset fabric paint and an ear bud instead of a paint brush.

The influenza bug under a microscope.

Painting the influenza bug
The Leafy Stick Insect. Made of dyed fabric sandwich and stitched. Constructed using pipe cleaners to make and hold the shape.

The Leafy Stick Insect - they grow to about the size of your hand, and are lovely gentle insects that are great as pets.

The Goliath Stick Insect. Made of florist wire. The body is wadding covered with green fabric. The legs are brown ribbon wound around the florist wire legs. The wings are just fabric stiffened with Fray Stopper and the antennae are made of wire.
The Goliath Stick Insect, also great to keep as pets.
Also, there are many things that bug me. These include hate speech, racists, cruelty, greed, violence and sexism. Written on satin ribbon with fabric pen.
