Texture - Shruti Dandekar

When this challenge was announced I knew I was not going to use either different material or different stitches to make this quilt. I was going to test my limits. Trying to find out what I can do with a single piece of fabric and a single stitch on my machine.

So I began exploring my options, trying out different stitches to narrow down which one to use and I ended up with my simple zig-zag stitch! Set at the maximum (9) width on my Bernina.

I used one of my hand dyed fabrics. (I am having so much fun with hand dyeing fabrics!) This one is my favorite of the first lot!

Here's how it turned out! I'm calling it "Ripples" because that's what it looks like. I think it is because I'm so looking forward to spend the coming weekend at the beach at Goa with my boys!

Here is a detailed shot of the piece. You can see the stitches and the fabric manipulation better in this one!!!

I am in love with this one and might just get it framed and put it up in my room!!! Just to remind me of my favorite holiday destination!

    1. Or maybe I will add some more length to it and make it into a skinny quilt before I hang it!!! Not sure I have the patience!

  11. Folding and stitching gives a lot of great texture. The little hints of red give a nice touch of contrast. Nice dye job. Love it.
