Out Of This World - Marty Mason

Her name is Helen and she's asking the question, "Is Africa Out of This World?"

I just had to stop and get a grip of my imagination while working on this one.  Of, course, it all started with the world.  My world is needle felted and includes (starting at the top moving clockwise) Greenland and Iceland, the Arctic Ocean, Finland and a touch of the United Kingdom, the Atlantic Ocean, North America the northern slope of South America and then the Pacific Ocean.

What is not included, and is of primary concern to my giraffe, is Africa.

After the quilting was done I found an old world map and tore out a part of Africa and glued on
just to ease Helen's mind that indeed her homeland is still in the world.

Until next challenge, I remain perfectly satisfied in this little imaginative world of mine.

  1. Well, I'm so glad your 'fish' (my first thought on your 'sneak peak!') turned out not to be! What a great interpretation of this challenge! That's imagination for sure!!! Nicely done!

  3. A great interpretation of the theme Marty. Tell Helen not to worry, Australia isn't there either, we won't hold that against you Marty, there is only so much you can fit in. LOL

    1. Denise, I didn't even have a plan when I started needle felting my world. It all fell into my head later. Be sure that I won't slight your kangaroo or your continent when next the time comes. Wasn't this a fun challenge?

  4. Very cute Marty!
    Your usual quirky style.
I also noted that Australia was missing too Denise.
Your giraffe could have been a kangaroo!

  5. What a fun interpretation of the theme. Helen is a sweetie (yay, I guessed it) and looks very pleased with herself that her home has its own special place. So much to see as you look closer. Top marks.
