As soon as the challenge was announced, my mind began whirring!!!
I was brain storming a lot of ideas and I finally decided to make a dragon!
I used my Derwent Inktense pencils and my Edding Textile Pens to draw the Dragon I had in one of Aadi's coloring books.
I then used my Aurifil threads to thread color the sketch for enhancement.
Do you like him? I still haven't named him. Any suggestions?
Yes, I do like him. With the look on his face, he has to be thinking....."bring 'em on, cowboy. I'll fight your fire with my fire any time."
ReplyDeleteI like him too. When I first saw the picture, I thought : that's Shruti. I expected something like that from you.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, Shruti!!! I love the fish and how you incorporated the two! Wonderful piece!
ReplyDeleteA great quilt, nice idea and beautiful stitching.
ReplyDeleteThe fish is just amazing - the dragon is cool too but I love how the fish go from water to fish and mimic the yin/yang symbol. Was that part of the colouring in page too or your own design?
ReplyDeleteWow! First, I want to say that personally I am addicted to my Derwent Inktense blocks and pencils now. Second, this is amazing! I love the yin/yang of the whole piece, your threadwork is impeccable, the idea is genius. I can't say enough about how much I enjoy your work.
ReplyDeleteHe is a force to behold!! And I love the way you incorporated the Yin-Yang/dragon-fish! Beautiful, vibrant colors and your stitching enhances the total work of art!
ReplyDeleteAll of the above Shruti! Superb!! I do like your dragon and with that twinkle in his/her eye, I think Marty would be a good name :-)
ReplyDeleteDoes look like a Koi fish that turns into a dragon, there has to be a mythical tale in there somewhere to give you a name. Does the fish have an evil side or does a dragon have a gentler side? Mmm
ReplyDeleteA very fierce looking dragon, protecting his koi friends?
ReplyDeleteFantastic piece Shruti. So vibrant and lively.
