The 3 R's - Sue M
When I set this challenge I had a definite plan in mind and a mental image of what I wanted my finished piece to look like. I failed on both counts.
I had hoped to create a tropical garden, using lots of found objects and other odds and ends from previous projects. Instead of a very lush, dense, tropical paradise I have a lonely tree.
Don't get me wrong I'm very happy with my little Tree of Life, I've always planned to make one, just not at this time.
For this challenge I used the off cuts from a quilt top I've just finished, joined them altogether to make a single piece. The tree was cut from this piece and raw edge appliqued to the background (bright green background and backing left over from a baby quilt). It was harder than I thought to find a background fabric to use so the tree didn't just fade away.

Now I am left with even more bits and pieces that I found and saved for this project.
I like the tree against the bright green. I think the border is very effective.
ReplyDeleteThis is really lovely Sue. The bright green is just perfect and I think gives it the tropical look you were after. I like your use of just 2 borders and the pieced binding frames it all nicely. Lots of yummy quilting too, well done!
ReplyDeleteSerendipity! How great thou art!
ReplyDeleteA lovely piece! Who knew a three R's quilt could be so lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour tree may not have been what you originally were going for but it works so well and doesn't seem lonely at all to me - it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely piece, Sue! I love how the tree looks against the green!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your comment about now having even more leftovers! It is an ongoing process, isn't it! I do love what you created though!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful tree. Good job!
