The 3 R's - Laurie Ceesay

This is my 3Rs challenge piece. Locally I met two women who both gave me free fabric. One was a former bridal shop owner downsizing her stash of velvets, chiffons, taffetas and laces and the second woman used to live in Las Vegas and made costumes for Vegas drag shows, showgirls, Disney and circuses and she game me a tone of lames! I reused the striped lame as the dress and the hair is a heavier weight black menswear fabric from the bridal shop fabrics.
I reused fabric from my stash for the background, binding and eyes/brows. The lips were made from taffetas from the bridal fabric scraps.
The earring is 3D made from a reused bead, a chain from an old necklace and a overlarge sequin from a Christmas garland.
I embellished with nail polish in the hair and lips. I did not add my usual rhinestones since the eyelash lame was sparkly enough. I like the pop art vibe of this quilt!

  3. I hadn't thought to use nail polish as an embellishment - what a clever idea! Great project here.
