The inspiration
Christie, Agatha Christie - one of my all time favorite authors! This work is a fond memory of what I remember as the first Agatha Christie I bought when I was in primary or middle school- "The Seven Dials Mystery".
Even today, on a rainy day, I love to curl up in bed with a Christie, a cup of ginger-mint black tea, some crunchy namkeen( savory snack).
Here is my tribute to Agatha Christie and The Seven Dials Mystery for fanning my love for reading, for fiction, for a good thriller - my comfort read.
About the work:
The strips for the background are left overs from another project.
There are 7 clock faces inspired by vintage clocks- drawn on newsprint fabric and coloured with inktense pencils. The newsprint fabric is used to provide a connect to the books. These clocks are then reverse appliqued.
Background saw some basic experiments with free motion couching.
The background and the vintage clocks are inspired by some of my saved Pins.
Love the background colors, they work so well with the theme. Your work with the intense pencils is great. I really need to try them. MaryEllen
