Background started as a white on white fabric. I painted the fabric with acrylic paints. Because the white design has almost a plastic feel it doesn't hold the paint so I was able to get this wonderful abstract feel of the night sky breaking up. I also used the back side of the painted fabric as it was much more muted.
The teardrops layers are hand embroidered together and then machine appliqued on to the background.
Various sizes of crystals were added to the teardrops for "refection".
The piece is layered with stiff interface and backed with cotton. The edges are finished with the front folded over the back for a clean front.
I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful day, MaryEllen
Very interesting use of techniques. The result is beautiful and very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteFrom Vivian’s iPad … very creative, we talk about the night ‘falling’. Interesting how our theme can divert to a related theme. Great image!
