Abstract - Deepa Vasudevan - "The Winter Colors of DLR Gardens"

In the central part of India where I grew up, winters were mild and the temperatures ranged between 8-18 degrees centigrade.
It was also the time when gardens blossomed with colours of dahlia, roses, dianthus, salvias, pansies, hollyhocks, nasturtiums. It was a mining township with houses built on undulating land and walking up the roads gave a glimpse of the beautiful gardens during dusk just before the fog set in and the smell of food being cooked wafted out.
This is an abstract representation of the colours found in those gardens including ours.

I continued with my exploration of sheer fabrics. I used white hakoba fabrics along with solid ones to give texture. Layering the sheers gave rise to newer colours. I stitched the circles and then trimmed the fabrics. I also experimented with skinny strip piecing in black and white to accentuate the colours of the garden.
