As humans, we’ve created a system of existence that emphasises monotony and regulation. And so many advancements in our quest for knowledge, it can be difficult to see one’s self worth and individualism in a sea of people living similar lives, and creating similar experiences.
My submission for May challenges this notion by bringing forth a simple example; our thumb print. No two prints are ever the same, even between parents and children. Our thumbprint different for each and every one of us. But for me, this print carries more meaning than what meets the eye. Something so special, so uniquely mine, is a testament to how many variables had to be in place for even one human life. It’s an opportunity to reflect back on the fact that thousands of years of humanity has led to you, and I existing during this time. Creating beautiful pieces of art, or growing a garden; each and every human is a miracle of existence, and every one of us is deservedly unique.
