Dad’s Drum
This
picture, taken in the early 50’s, is of the Holland MB brass band. My
Dad played the large drum in the band for many years. I have memories of
the band playing at every Remembrance Day, leading the parade and
playing at the service near the school. This is the photo that came to mind for this challenge, not an ink tattoo, a drum tattoo.
The
photo was manipulated using ‘MobileMonet’ and then printed on ice dyed
‘vintage’ flour sacking. I drew a design and practiced my paper piecing
for the borders.
I like your interpretation -- very nice design!
ReplyDeleteThe drum "tattoo" never occurred to me, even though in Dutch we have the same two meanings of this word. I like the contrast of the soft print on hard lined background
ReplyDeleteA great depiction of a different type of tattoo and a sincere homage to your dad. Lovely.
