Drum Line
In my interpretation of the challenge I incorporated an alternate definition of "tattoo" which is "a rhythmic tapping or drumming".
My quilt features a shimmering drum made of sheer organza and silver lamme.
The three fish stitched on top are called Spotted Drums.
In their juvenile form they have stripes rather than spots and beautiful long ribbon-like dorsal fins and tail.
I chose a skin coloured background fabric and quilted it accordingly.
I added a black flange before binding to provide a graphic frame to the piece.
I think my design would make a fun tattoo for a scuba diver drummer - me !

I didn't take this photo but have seen these beautiful fish while snorkling. |
