Why I Quilt

Forty years and getting on,

emotions in head and heart,

I'm neither at the end nor am I at the start

So grow old as I will,

 I'll record my memories by cleaver use of fabric
 and thread painted into stories

A million seller I'll never be,

that's simply not my lot,

just stories for the family all with a wonderful plot

A moment out to drift in time,

remembering songs we sung,

and the mountain said it all, like a guardian in the sun

Whilst I hear sibling rambling may never reach my stippling

treasured stories never told,

And That Is Why I Quilt
