Folklore - Denise Griffiths - "Ned Kelly"

                         Folklore - Denise Griffiths

                                 "Ned Kelly"

Like Robyn, I chose Ned Kelly for my Folklore challenge.

I will cheat a bit here and not repeat the story that Robyn

has already written so beautifully about the Kelly Gang.

There was an artist, Sidney Nolan, who did a series of 27 paintings. Some of them hang in the National Art Gallery in Canberra Australia, I have been lucky enough to see all but one of the paintings over the years. My version of Ned is based on this style of painting. This scene is based around the time when the Kelly Gang spent time in the bush practising their first class marksmanship.

Ned Kelly's last words from the gallows was "Such is life" which is a saying that is still used widely today.

I painted the background and appliqued the rest on top.
