I wanted to depict the vastness of the desert, the location for the novel, and then have a single red tent. I tried to show the different wind patterns in the sand with the quilting and added some gold thread on the red tent to show the lushness of the tent where women can be themselves and supported by one another.
This challenge was really difficult for me because there were so many other books that I wanted to do...who knows, maybe I'll just do a whole series of book inspired quilts!

so many books I need to read! Love your desert. the thread work is excellent. A series of book quilts would be fun.
ReplyDeleteJust wonderful! Your desert is perfect as is the tent! You have depicted the theme beautifully!
ReplyDeleteWhat fantastic texture you have created. I am literally rubbing my hands together, I so want to touch your quilt.
ReplyDeleteHow perfectly interpreted. I love the aloneness of your tent in the vast world outside. It represents protection, solace, caring, understanding....and the list goes on. I love it.
ReplyDeleteYou conveyed your feelings perfectly! Love your quilt!
ReplyDeleteThis is a book that I've not read! Thank you for tell us about it and using it as your inspiration. I think you captured the essence of what you described beautifully.
ReplyDeleteThe use of solids enhances the quilting giving a lovely textural feel to your quilt. Although small, the red tent retains its dominant place in the story. Well done.
