My Favourite Book Is.....
Choosing a favourite book is not easy so I went with a family favourite"Each Peach Pear Plum" a children's picture book written and illustrated by Janet & Allan Ahlberg.
I have read this book to my children so many times we all know it off by heart!
The peach and the pear are sheer fabrics, the plum is fleecy fabric, all are fused to the background.
Then I did all the stitching / quilting with grey thread using the edge of the presser foot to guide my spacings.
I also added a little colour with Faber-Castell Metallic pencils, to the fruits and the leaves.
To finish off the quilt I 'bagged it out' and zig - zag stitched a variegated yarn with variegated thread onto the front edge of the quilt. (yet another different edge treatment)

Love the different textures of the fruit and I also enjoyed that you let the straight quilting lines curve when you were on the fruits as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Monique, I was just going to use line for this quilt creating the fruits with curved line and the background with straight line but decided it was a little boring without the applique colour and added pencil colouring.
DeleteLovely quilt. A great book too. One my children loved having read to them too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Judith
Deletelove your shading with the colored pencils. fun story.
ReplyDeleteThanks Janet, my first time using pencils on a quilt, and I think I liked it!
DeleteAnd memories were made. Sweet.
ReplyDeleteLovely coloring!!! Sweet quilt!
ReplyDeleteI love your take on the children's book...again, I love the variety of choices we have all made!
ReplyDeleteI like the use of sheer fabric and pencil. The change of direction in the quilting over the fruit is very effective.
