I chose to represent the first book I bought for myself with my pocket money back in the late 60's.
Due to copyright restriction my first attempt was abandoned. Unfortunately after I had already finished it.
Lol so quilt number 2 was born. I cut a stencil, applied it and stitched it.
So I hope you can tell the subject of my book.
I have used lots of techniques, hand and machine stitching, beads and buttons.
I hope it creates a playful bright image.
I loved this little character as a child, still do.
I'm quite pleased with it but have to say prefer my first attempt.
Beads on the boarder buttons and hand stitch
Wire, hand stitch and applique.
If I were to do it again I would be more careful of the placement of the stencil and a little cleaner with the printing.

This is wonderful! (and such a good character to focus on :) Looking at your piece is like reading a story all its own, with all the different techniques and textures. You make me very curious to see your other quilt too. I doubt there would be much issue showing us a peak unless you were planning on selling your piece or if you didn't give credit of your source material.

ReplyDeleteThank you Marty. I do a lot of hand stitching as i love the texture you get from it. And i live on the coast and there is over 20 miles of moorland between us and any other town. So a bus ride anywhere is over an hour. Wonderful countryside to see but my hands need to be busy, so im often found stitching on the bus and in the car.
