My Favourite Book Is... - Denise Griffiths - "Matisse Catalogue"

My Favourite Book Is, Denise Griffiths

                         "Matisse Catalogue"

When I heard the challenge was Favourite Book I thought, that is easy. But I have read and enjoyed a lot of books in my life time and never twice, in memory, so no favourites as such.

While putting some things away today I noticed a book on Henri Matisse the artist. I have used this book many times over the years as a reference or to spark some inspiration from, so I thought why not him. He is one of my favourite artists and I have looked at this book a lot so it has to be a favourite.

Technically it is called a catalogue as it was from an exhibition at the Queensland Art Gallery but it is everything a good book is and more.

I have a lot of fabric with images of Matisse artwork on them. I chose one block and added my own version of his style with leftover solid colour fabric.

It was his paper cutout designs I chose as he did theses while recovering from a severe illness and wasn't to get out of bed and paint.

  4. Clear and simple lines, yet very effective.
I actually thought this was Marty's quilt when I first saw it, it looks like her style, there you go, Marty - Matisse not much difference!
    Good work Denise.
