In The Garden - Autumn Leaves
For this challenge I decided to do Autumn leaves as I love these colours.
I first saw these vibrant colours on my trips to Japan. There are masses of them in beautiful gardens, temples and on the mountainsides.
I also saw these colours on a trip to the US and it was outside Jinny Byers shop that I saw a magnificent, large tree with so many leaves on the ground. While everyone else was buying fabric inside, I was crawling around under this tree getting close up photos, putting them in piles and rearranging them.
OK, passers by thought I was nuts but I was in colour heaven. I did go inside and Jinny had these exact same colours. ( I know, I bought the leaves inside to check.)I finally made a quilt with them.
Isn't this what memories are made of?
I love fall leaves!!! (and would have most likely been on the ground collecting with you). What a great idea to take the leaves in and find fabrics that matched them too....might have try that sometime. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, Denise, how lovely your memory quilt. I love the autumn leaves too and have to make myself add other colors to my palette.
ReplyDeleteAutumn is my favourite season and I also seem to make a lot of quiilts in those tones. I love your idea of collecting and taking the leaves into the shop to match the colours.
ReplyDeleteSimple but stunning. Love the Autumn colours.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great to be able to reproduce a memory...and then you will have it forever! Your color choices for the leaves are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great piece!!! I love leaves....you know that from my work, right! And to have the memories attached..how cool!
ReplyDeleteA great way to remember your trip Denise. Looks great.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt certainly has an Autumn feel to it, well done.
ReplyDeleteI finally live in an area where the fallen leaves can mostly stay where they land! Very nice quilt! Well done.
