The 3 R's - Fleur Maddern - "In the Garden"

In The Garden
This challenge has been great fun!
I have collected lots of bits of plastic, bottle tops, lids, bread ties, straws, teaspoons, food packaging trays, cotton reels, packing tape etc.
These bits of 'rubbish' were melted with a hot iron, to create 'beautiful' flowers.
These 'beautiful' flowers are now growing in my little garden.

I used bubble wrap for wadding (not that you can see it!)
Blue packing strap for the binding.
The Sun is a lid of a "Copperpot" (brand name) dip container.
The Grass is a raw chicken tray from the supermarket, cut, fringed and lightly melted.

A white teaspoon flower with "Pump" bottle ring centre.
Red teaspoon flower with "Gutermann" reel end centre.

Red bread tie flower with "Gutermann" reel centre on finger stitched green cord stem.
Yellow packing strap flower with "Pump" bottle top centre and "Fruitbox" straw stem.
Blue & Yellow bread tie flower with "Gutermann" reel centre on zip stems.

  2. Amazing, Fleur! I would never have thought to go this far and didn't even know you could do most of this! It's REALLY an example of recycling.

    1. Susan, I had no idea either. Once I got that hot iron in my hand and started melting things, I just kept experimenting. Not everything melted as I thought it would, different plastics respond differently. It was a lot of fun and now I'm looking at plastic packaging with a whole new eye.

  4. wow you have put us all to shame with your recycling and repurposing!! I loved the bread clips first but had to smile when I saw the zips - the chicken tray was the icing on the cake. Really well done!!
