Alternate name for this is "Haan Main Tumhara Hoon" - "You're the One for Me"
This is a song written and sung by Australian cricketer Brett Lee in 2006. The song, a Bollywood style duet, was recorded in 2006 with Ashe Bhosle, a 74 year old Hindi singer known for her work in the Bollywood industry. The song hit #4 in the Indian charts in its first week.

Not being into working with bling and glitter I was really stumped (pardon the pun) as to what to do for this challenge. My daughter suggested yesterday that I look at Brett Lee and Bollywood, Mr Google did the rest. I had googled Bollywood previously but nothing really struck a chord with me.
You may well ask why on earth a cricketer should be the catalyst to get me started. Simple really - Australia and India are both great cricketing nations, Brett Lee is Australian, Bollywood is Indian.
My sons knew Brett in high school and I was once in the same quilt group as his Aunt.
Apart from the song, Brett has made a cameo appearance in a 2009 Bollywood movie, Victory and plays in the Indian Premier League competition in a team owned by a Bollywood star.
My quilt is obviously abstract. The background fabric was fused on to timtex and some gold organza fused on that with misty fuse. The whole piece was quilted before I added some crystal organza and angelina fibres, my attempt at glitz and glitter. The red satin at the bottom represents a cricket pitch and the large red dot represents the bindi and/or the red ball used in test cricket. The cricket stumps were made from pieces of silk something or other I found in a pack of silk bits and pieces I'd purchased years ago. The quilt is edged with twisted silk thread of varying thickness. The quilt was free motion stitched except for the edging which was zig zagged on.
I love it Robyn, the abstractness, the story, the fibers that run through it.
ReplyDeleteFor someone who doesn't do glitz and glitter Robyn you sure did them perfectly in this quilt. Love everything about it - it has just the right amount of 'bling' while being beautifully designed. The idea for the concept is great too.
