Thumbs - Rosie Chapman - "Dance Party"

When I thought of thumbs, the first thing that came to my mind was a hitchhiker, someone on the side of a road, with his/her thumb out to attract drivers to stop and give them a ride to their destination.  Next, the dance back in my day, The Hitchhike and the song made popular by Marvin Gaye! It all worked together really well.

I used my embroidery machine to free motion the title and singer's name onto the record label.  That was really fun.  I had also read that we should be signing our art quilts on the front just like artists sign their work. So with a little practice, I free motioned my signature and date on the front of my "Dance Party" art quilt.

  4. Love the theme of your piece. Great work with your embroidery machine. Thanks for the reminder to sign your work. I haven't tried signing on the front but I always make a label for the back with name and date (and sometimes other important info).
