Kitsch - Lizz Ploppert

Kitsch

My first thought when I hear Kitsch is Flamingoes or bug-eyed Cat Clocks! I went pink!
And as a Celtic Knot quilt is still on my "quilt bucket list" this theme worked out
well for me. A square format might have shown better but I'm happy with the batik
background. Kinda watery! And the gaggle of birds seem happy enough! I gave thought to a
rainbow of birds to make their necks easier to follow but in the end kept to traditional pink.

I found another roll of TimTex so I'm good for several more little quilts - I love the crisp body
TimTex gives these little quilts. And of course I used Heat n'Bond Lite for fusing. (Another fave product!) Baby buttons for eyes and ta-da! A frolicking flock of flamboyant flamingoes!

  1. I thought about bug-eye cat clocks as well and almost went that direction until glittery peacocks smacked me upside the head!! Love this idea of putting your flamingos in a celtic knot!!

  4. This is fabulous! The design is almost mind-blowing and I love the fabrics you chose. To me, this design could be very successful commercially and several animals could be interchanged.

  5. They look just like those in the zoo. I have pictures of flamingoes and their necks are always intertwined.

  10. Love, love, love it. Twining the Flamingo necks for the Celtic knot was inspired. How did you ever think of it?
