Kitsch - Judith Clarke - "Day of the Dead"

I was stumped by this one for some time. All I could think of was work by Jeff Koons, ( hope I've spelt that right!) Then a friend sent me a book about the day of the dead, I would love to visit Mexico for this celebration, so I knew where I was going. I drew and stitched and painted. Is it done? I wanted to add texture as well, but at this point I'm not sure I should. So here is my day of the dead.

I did a tiny zig-zag around the edge to finish it off. Is it finished? Does it need more? I quite like it as it is, but you tell me.

Do I add more?

  1. Love the sugar skulls and the skeletons are too cute. I like the addition of the artificial flowers. Breaking the edges isa nice touch.

  2. Love the Day of The Dead theme Judith, cute little heads and little skeletons. The plastic flowers really push it into the Kitsch realm.

  3. I also love sugar skulls and Day of the Dead! Plastic flowers are definitely kitschy!! The irregular outside edge is a nice choice also.

  5. I think you've captured the spirit of the day (no pun intended) with your happy skeletons. Great stuff!
