I have been working with wool roving lately and enjoying 'painting' images with it using felting needles. This little fox was created on a foam mat with loose fibers needle felted together. I then placed him on a background stitched and treated with the product texture magic to add a little extra interest. I did a bit more thread work on the fox and quilted the background down a bit more. He looks a little impatient though, I think I better let him continue looking for his dinner.

Well, isn't he just the sweetest, with eyes filled with such curiosity. I think he just spotted his dinner and in his youth is still trying to figure out how to deal with it!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Even just looking at the first picture I wanted to TOUCH your piece!!! Now that is texture!!! Very nice!!!
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! This is crazy awesome!!! Great Job! I want to reach out and 'pet' him!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your little fox and such lovely texture
ReplyDeleteYou did a fantastic job with the wool roving as fur-I wanted to pet it! :)
ReplyDeleteI like the combination of fibre and stitching in this one.
ReplyDeleteCant say foxes are my favourite creatures, they're always after my chickens here but you've done a wonderful job with your woodland creature.
ReplyDeleteHe looks like he could jump off the page! Very good use of texture!
ReplyDeleteFantastic Mr Fox - scrumptious texture.
ReplyDeleteTexture Magic ("Shrinky" fabric)is such fun to use - but I banned myself from using it for this texture challenge (I used it 3 times for my art quilts in the last year)
Your fox quilt is lovely.
Wow! The combination of felting and stitching makes for a very realistic furry fox. I like the use of texture magic for the background.
ReplyDeleteFelting and wool rovings just sing out for touching, everyone must want to stroke your fox. So realistic, love him.
