Texture - Janet Hartje

This all began with a fabric I have kept in my stash for quite some time.  I love this fabric but didn't have very much of it.  So, I was saving it for the perfect quilt.  Here is the name of the fabric and designer.

Here is a section of the fabric.

I cut out about a quarter of one of the flowers and tried my best to recreate the rest of the flower with
as much texture as possible.

The initial square is appliquéd flat.  I added padding under the leaves and petals of my recreation. 

I have been wanting to try a few techniques from the book "Stumpwork."

I used their method for making the larger dark red circles.  Here is the padding under the dark red circles.

I also followed their methods of creating leaves and used this for making my dragon fly wings.  I added a little fabrico marker to the wings for a touch of color.

I encourage critiques of my work.  I will not be changing this quilt as it is done and I am ready to move to a new challenge.  Hopefully I can learn from a critique to improve my skills for the next little piece of art.
