Until I had room to handle large quilting projects I made little bags. I called them Art on a Strap.
The bag part was usually one fabric but the flap was embellished with fabric, beads and whatever I could find that would accomplish what I wanted. They were all one of a kind bags.
I sold some but most I just gave away. The fabric was not very well suited to quilting until now!

The fabric in this Texture Art Quilt was from the fabric that I used in those little bags. I cut a piece of heavy cardboard and stuck pins up and down the edges that allowed me to create a micro loom.  I took some white yarn that went from fat to thin and wove it around the pins. You can easily see the yarn in the picture. Then I played with strips of fabric and wove them through the yarn.  

I had trouble with a binding because nothing looked right. All the weaving seemed to be compromised no matter what I auditioned.  I thought maybe some ribbon would work and went into the ribbon box but that didn't work either. Then my eye spied the embroidery box and as you can see the floss it worked it's magic:  I simply and sloppily embroidered a blanket weave all around it mimicking the 'ununiformity' of the overall look.  I'm very happy with the results.
