| Today is reveal day for our Texture challenge due November 30, 2015. I tend to use texture anyway in most of my art quilts but I really tried to over do it this time! I have a nice collection of special occasion fabrics that are shiny, fuzzy and scratchy which lended themselves to this project. I used velvet for the hair and lips; an eyelash lame for the dress and some plaid (actually squeaky!) lame for the background. The skin, eyes and nose were traditional batiks and hand dyed cottons. I embellished the dress neckline with a great metallic rick rack I purchased last year while at the IQF Houston quilt show. I thought the rick rack added ever more texture to the dress. I discovered while quilting through velvet because of the nap the quilting stitches barely show. :( |
Love the color and the shine to this piece. (and I really like the different stitch design in the face as well!) Great work.
