I created the field by weaving two different fabrics together and then couched a small golden yarn along the intersections. The bales were needle felted using yarn on a base of flannel then appliqued and blended with a bit more thread work. The sky is hand painted using a diluted soft body acrylic.

Uniform - Monique Kleinhans - "Hay Bales"
Every fall the valley is lined with field after field of golden hay bales. I love the beauty in their uniform nature. (Much more so now that I don't have to help haul them in and stack them!)

I created the field by weaving two different fabrics together and then couched a small golden yarn along the intersections. The bales were needle felted using yarn on a base of flannel then appliqued and blended with a bit more thread work. The sky is hand painted using a diluted soft body acrylic.

Love your color selection! Growing up in Midwest farm country, I can really relate to the bales of hay!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jay!
DeleteHow clever of you!!!! Yep...I'm a farm girl as well...raised on a farm and had a farm until hubby and I married in '91. He sold his boat and I sold my horses! HA Nicely done Monique!
ReplyDeleteThanks Robbie! It was a fun technique to try with this...I don't think I'm done playing with the idea. (who had the harder time selling? I would think it would have been harder to get rid of your horses! <3
DeleteOn a clear fall day, blue sky and recently baled hay. Love it.
