Buggs in a box.
My uniform challenge is a specimen box of insects. I've wanted to make this for ages. I used childrens drawings for the insects, free machined them onto the quilt, they are then painted individually. They have made up latin names, a record of which are on the back.
I've slattered and painted the edges to give the impression of age. I really enjoyed this one.

The two bugs on the close up photos names are, sly one and water and earth, ive just thought he ahould have been called earth swimmer, because of his colour. Ah well. Lol

ReplyDeleteMy favorite one from the ones posted so far!!! Brilliant work!!!
ReplyDeleteMy little Grandson would love this one, it was a great idea. Patients would have been required to free motion such small little insects with so many bits on them. Love it
ReplyDeleteI was never a girly girl! I had a bug collection when I was young. My dad helped me build a case for it and I won a ribbon at the fair. Thanks for taking me back to a fun carefree memory. I love your bugs!
ReplyDeleteI've always found specimen boxes fascinating and this one is no different. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone.
ReplyDeleteWhat paint did you use and how do you keep it from bleeding?
