Uniform
Here is my "Uniform" quilt.
This is not what I planned to make for uniform at all.
As the person who set this challenge I had it all worked out before the challenge was announced exactly what I would make.
But ....... Something happened and I created this instead.
Hawthorn Football Club.
Australians will recognise this as the emblem of the Hawthorn Football Club (AFL) (Australian Football League).
I acknowledge that it is not 'my' design, and I have copied the emblem from my son's football jumper.
But it is a "Uniform".
On Saturday 3rd Oct 2015, Hawthorn won the 2015 Grand Final beating West Coast Eagles.
My husband and 4 children are all Hawthorn supporters, so are all very pleased that 'their' team has won another Premiership.
Hawthorn has now won 3 in row, and 4 with their current coach Alastair Clarkson.
Alastair Clarkson is from Kaniva, Victoria, the same town as me. I am proud to say that I know Alastair and that I worked with his mother for 2 & 1/2 years. I may even know things about him as a boy that are best kept secret!
Anyway I digress.
Congratulation Addis on another Premiership with Hawthorn Footy Club.
Binding
My personal challenge to myself is to make the binding / edging of each of my Art Quilts Around the World quilts different. On this quilt I have zig-zag stitched the edge to close and then added an organza ribbon folded in half over the edge leaving the ribbon see through off the quilt edge.

Congratulations to your team!!! And I love how accurate your applique is!!! Awesome job!
ReplyDeleteVery appropriate choice of design given the big win yesterday. Love a passionate footy fan. Exactly 1 year ago today I was at the stadium watching my team win their first Grand Final in 43 years :-) Great job on the appliqué and keep on experimenting with different edge finishes.
ReplyDeleteVERY nice! And the different binding techniques is so clever!
ReplyDeleteHe looks fierce! You did a fantastic job creating your appliqué. I like the idea of different edge finishes and may have to try that as well. I am kind of stuck in a rut. This looks like a great technique.
ReplyDeleteOh Fleur, you and Robyn are two peas in a pod when it comes to footy.
ReplyDeleteThe bird came out a winner as well.
Flexibility in ideas is so important! I am always creating and changing as I go! Your eagle is elegant!
ReplyDeleteJust noticed your title...Hawk! Sorry! Still elegant!
ReplyDeletevery nice
ReplyDeleteWonderful applique. What a fierce hunter he is. I, too, like your challenge-to-self-bindings.
