Uniform - Denise Griffiths - "School Ties"
Uniform - School Ties
I know, I know, it is a bit clique but I could not think of a thing to do. All that came to mind was an actual Uniform.
It was a bit of a walk down memory lane for me, as I decided on school uniform with ties from when I went to school. It seems like another life time ago and I guess it was as the blue and red tie one was worn over 50 years ago ( that is all I will admit to) when I was in Primary school. The yellow and blue one was for high school.
The uniform itself was made of heavy wool fabric ( it was not great to wear in our Australian summers, hang over from the English ancestors) and was itchy. It had 3 box pleats at the front and back with a belt at the waist. A white school shirt was underneath and was very cold in winter with short socks and shoes. No designer labels in those days. ( Never thought I would be old enough to say "in the old days we...")
Technique was only painted as I didn't leave enough time to do more but I hope you enjoyed my tales from the past.
I always went to public school, not private, back in 'the day', so never wore school uniforms. But, I definitely remember that girls wore dresses and boys wore slacks, back in 'the day'. Tales from the past....the best kind. Painted on? I must try this technique.
ReplyDeleteMarty these are for public schools. Even now all schools in Australia have a uniform so there is no "class" distinction between children.
DeleteThere should be more 'uniforms' in schools now a days! Very clever and nicely done!!!
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done. I had the itchy wool uniform as well. Hopefully my challenge will be up today, it is about school uniforms too.
ReplyDeleteWe never had ties in school. But I loved our uniform. It was totally cool. A grey skirt with a light blue shirt. It was smart and way better than the other schools! But we all wished we had ties and blazers!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the navy serge uniform, I remember it well, so horrible in summer. Great job Denise.
