Snowflake - Monique Kleinhans

Since I recently did a snowflake as a part of our structure challenge I wanted to try a new technique new for this piece.  I came across an article in quilting arts recently about using mylar in art quilts and decided to give it a try.  While it isn't my favorite thing to stitch through, I do like how the end result came out.
For this piece I painted some batting with silver and blue paint, created some angelina fiber swirls, and then layered on some light-weight netting.  I then appliqued my mylar snowflakes on top.

The finished project has a ton of shine!

Now back to trying to stay cool in this heat!

  1. The Mylar is perfect for here! i haven't seen it in that blue colour before, it's gorgeous and you've combined all the embellishments perfectly.

  8. Thanks for taking the time to post comments and encouragement. Since we are spread so far and wide across the marble it sometimes feels like the comments on each other's work is our best way to gather. Just wanted to let you all know that I appreciate it.
