Out of this World - Sue M - "Black Hole"

I find the idea of a black hole in space that can gobble anything up that comes within it gravitational pull mind boggling.

A black hole is a mathematically defined region of spacetime exhibiting such a strong gravitational pull that no particle or electromagnetic radiation can escape from it. The theory of general relativity predicts that a sufficiently compact mass can deform spacetime to form a black hole. Black hole - Wikipedia

Black holes are some of the strangest and most fascinating objects found in outer space. They are objects of extreme density, with such strong gravitational attraction that even light cannot escape from their grasp if it comes near enough. (space.com).

I used commercial fabric, metallic paint and raw edge applique for this piece.

  2. I've always been fascinated with black holes too. Great use of the metallic paint in your project and I like the spiral quilting in the center too.

  3. Very interesting, Sue. I keep looking, close my eyes and look again and it's still there.....the black hole. Love your interpretation of this challenge.

  5. The concept of what a black hole is, is very other worldly. Like your spaced out idea.
