The 3 R's - Susan Turney

My high school friend, Skip, has taken his grandfather's 1940 truck and restored it.  Seems like the ultimate recycling to me!
The green on his truck is much brighter but I used Lumiere and this green metallic was the closest they have.  I drew the truck from the photo below, cut out the drawing and outlined it on black fabric, painted it with Lumiere, cut it out and fused it to the background and quilted it.  It was fun to do!

  4. Great to see your little blue bird again from me also! Love this quilt, the lumiere paints make it. Your friend did a bang up job on that truck too!

    2. Neroli, it means the same thing here! And thanks for your help with my Lumiere questions before I started. I'd never worked with it before.

  5. Great little quilt!!! I just love your interpretation of the old truck!! And I am afraid I have missed the story of the little bluebird....is he/she your mantra...symbol...familiar??? I love the concept of having a common "something" on all works of arts! I may just have to steal the idea, OK?

    1. Jay, my first quilt with the group was for the "Self Portrait" challenge and it was named Bluebird of Happiness. Since then I've added a tiny bluebird to each quilt. (I missed one but have gone back and added it). Yes, by all means, find a symbol you like and do it!

  7. The colours of the truck and the the background go so well together. My husband is into restoring old cars, a hobby that takes up more space than mine. I didn't show him your quilt in case he got ideas.
