Also among my collection of "I'll use it someday", I had gathered these little metal washers and some embroidery threads--so why not throw these into the mix as well!
The Dragonfly was made using some left over bits of texture magic from my last challenge piece and candlelight thread. For the wings, I treated some of my fabric with Terial Magic to give it body, and then encased it with an iridescent sheer with some areas cut away.
Finally, for the water, I used a small scrap of some
gorgeous silk that I just never had the heart to part with. I stitched it
down with pleats and folds to give the appearance of water ripples.
I enjoyed this challenge very much---almost as much as I enjoyed seeing a little bit of extra daylight in my studio space!
This is beautiful! I love the way the wonderful background makes the dragonfly pop.
ReplyDeleteLovely! Nice that the wings were not tied down - I love 3 dimension!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful....great use of what's on hand.
ReplyDeleteAs above, beautiful. Great use of bits and pieces. Lovely contrast between the wings and green background, it really sparkles.
ReplyDeleteShe (it has to be a lady dragonfly!) is lovely!!! Very nice piece!
ReplyDeleteLove the washers and wings particularly Monique. I often find things like that and put them somewhere - but when it comes time can't remember where I have put them! So congrats on knowing your supplies so well too!
ReplyDeleteYour dragonfly is just beautiful!! Great colors, great stitching!!
ReplyDeleteI love the wings!!! So beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful piece. It is amusing when you think about the things we keep or can't part with. Years later I can't even remember why I keep half of my stuff. Anyway your dragon fly is just the cutest.
ReplyDeleteLove your 3D dragonfly and the textured background.
ReplyDeleteGreat piece Monique.
ReplyDeleteLove your fabric choices and your composition, it all works beautifully.
