The Road Less Traveled-Jay
I finally got my quilt finished! After having an almost immediate idea and having the basic quilt without the quilting done a month or more ago, I finished the quilting and binding last night!
Road Less Traveled
When I started this...(I knew I wanted to depict roads going off in space)..I had just taken a class from a quilter who worked with fusibles a lot. And although I don't like to use other peoples' patterns, she had provided us with a scene that had a sky full of clouds, a landscape with lots of trees. After the class, I had only done the sky so decided to make up my own foreground and use the sky I had made. When I was finished, I just didn't like the final results! I liked my foreground (my original) but didn't care for the sky (her pattern).
So I cut away the bright pinky sky, cut off about a third of my foreground, laid the whole thing on some varigated fabric I have had around for a long time and decided which area to use for my sky. After fusing it all together, I used close outline stitching on the mountains and roads; then decided to use a monofilament thread on the sky to create an illusion of space...mountains...and my road less traveled going back into infinity....representing the road less traveled is sometimes more lonely but will take you further and be more rewarding in the end!

I am pleased with my final results....it is my husband's favorite thus far...and like so many of the other quilts in our reveal, I wish all could see it up close!! It would show the stitching better!
