For a Road less travelled I chose a technique I have never used before, so 'less travelled' and a scene from a book on Ireland. Firstly the technique: I bought an embellishing machine in March this year as I am attracted to needle felting. Six months later I found a use for the embellisher! I used an old silk sari as the base, then needled felted wool for most of the landscape, except the poppies which are felted red silk. The needle felted work is about the same size as the picture in the book, which is not A3 size so I wove synthetic felt to create a different representation of the colours in the picture. I used running stitch and embroidery floss to stitch the woven pieces together. It certainly took a lot longer than I thought it would to needle felt!
